It is also called as ‘Pear of Cydonia’, being native to Caucasus and Iran.
They call it as the ‘golden apple’ of Greek Mythology.
  
The name pumpkin has its roots in the Greek word ‘pepon’, meaning ‘large melon’.
The largest pumpkin ever grown weighed 1,140 pounds.
